This story is about a man who was buried before he actually died. The victim’s name was Samuel R. Jocelyn. The ghost of Sam, as he was called, spoke to his closest acquaintance, Alexander Hostler. Since there was no way of preserving bodies back then, they had to be buried ASAP. The doctor, Doctor Kell assumed he was dead, but he was really just unconscious. He was found unconscious after a snake scared his horse and he fell off after hitting his head on a limb. The ghost told him to go dig up his coffin and look in it. After much hesitation, he dug it up. Sam was found lying face down in his coffin! He was really buried alive.

The Man Who Turned To Stone
The date was Feb. 23, 1910. The family of S.T. Blaskey had agreed to move his burial site. They planned to move him to the other side of the cemetery. They were sure six men would provide plenty of strength to pull up the casket. Once the men got to the burial site, they dug dow to the casket. After they connected ropes to it, they tried to pull it up. They pulled with all their strength, but the casket would not Stone2.jpg up. They concluded that they could not pull it up with just three men, so one man was sent to town to get more men. He returned with three men. The men managed to pull it up, but it still required all of their strength. The men had to have a horse pull the casket to the other burial site because it was much too hard to carry. Before the men lowered the casket, one of S.T.’s friends wanted to have one last look at him before he was lowered. The men agreed, then lifted the top of the casket. To all of their surprise, S.T. had turned to stone! He was just like a statue, but somehow his clothes remained the same color. Each man touched his face before he was again laid to rest.
